Those of Rob Ryan are poems of paper. Devotee of papercutting, the London artist literally cuts away his thoughts, making an almost Michelangelo where the card replaces the marble. The result is lace made of colored symbols, words, and human figures designed to tell stories full of emotion and delicacy .
Entering his shop in Columbia Road in London (East End, on the way home on Sunday that the flower market) is impossible not to be kidnapped by these figures as well, childish and fabulous. Fairy in a quite literal sense, because beyond the appearance reflect the brutal reality making its way between the fears, doubts and insecurities of each of us and for this they can touch your heart.
